BGSU accepting registrations for 2026 summer academic and youth programs, with offerings in STEM, healthcare, the arts and more

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Supporting year-round learning experiences and in-demand career exploration, Bowling Green State University is accepting registrations for its 2026 summer academic and youth programs for Pre-K-12 students in Ohio and beyond, with priority registration open through March 1.

Offering more than 30 camps and workshops, this year's BGSU summer programming will feature in-person and virtual educational experiences led by the University's world-class faculty from all academic areas, including science, technology, engineering and mathematics – or STEM – healthcare, the arts and more.

Underscoring the BGSU commitment to empowering students with hands-on learning opportunities, each camp and workshop will also incorporate immersive experiences to further support understanding of topics.

"We are proud to support the continued learning and growth of Pre-K-12 students in northwest Ohio and beyond during the critical summer months with our enriching camps and workshops," said Kari Wilson, coordinator of pre-college programs at BGSU. "Offering more than 200 majors and degree programs, BGSU is home to supportive faculty with academic and research expertise in high-demand fields who are committed to helping students learn and master new concepts. Whether in-person or virtual, students will be empowered to explore their passions and academic interests with our robust summer camps and workshops."

Committed to driving cultural vitality in the region and beyond, BGSU is offering all-new camps this year in creative writing and the arts to hone student skills and experiences.

As part of the creative writing camp, participants will explore various academic areas across campus, including the BGSU planetarium and marine biology lab, with follow-up research alongside faculty mentors to develop original works in different genres. Students in arts workshops will learn from School of Art faculty about 2D or 3D media, with art-based lectures, studio time and an exhibition in the BGSU Fine Arts Center.

Home to the nation's first customizable AI+X bachelor’s degree, BGSU will also empower students interested in computer science careers with its CyberGuardians camp. During the five-day program, 8th-11th grade students will immerse themselves in AI-assisted learning activities focused on ethical hacking, network security and cybersecurity awareness.

The all-new, uniquely designed BGSU AI+X program combines a core education in AI with a secondary discipline in one of six fields, allowing students to design field-specific solutions to support AI-driven tools and applications.

As BGSU continues innovate with its growing engineering programs, the University will provide high school students with an interest in advanced manufacturing the opportunity to explore various aspects of the sector with a weeklong camp focused on the in-demand field.

During the camp, students will participate in multiple hands-on workshops alongside BGSU engineering faculty in the newly opened, state-of-the-art Technology Engineering Innovation Center, which features seven specialty labs for training on semiconductors, robotics, advanced manufacturing, augmented reality and more.
