A new online degree designed to meet the growing demand of currently employed teachers desiring the means to continue development of current skills, gain new skills and insight into the profession, and to deepen knowledge of pedagogy.

  • BGSU students and faculty attend the Chroma International Music Festival in Hungary Sep 1, 2026 8:00 AM BGSU undergraduate student Ted Wang and graduate students Marian Drakontou and Susan Bernard, along with faculty Robert Satterlee attended the inaugural Chroma International Music Festival, held in July in Miskolc, Hungary at the Bartók Institute. The students had the opportunity to study with various faculty, perform in concerts and master classes, work on ensemble music, and experience the culture of Hungary.

  • Professor Arne Spohr Invited to Serve as DAAD Guest Professor at the University of Bremen, Germany Sep 1, 2026 6:00 AM CMA faculty member Arne Spohr, Professor of Musicology, was selected as a DAAD Guest Professor at the University of Bremen, Germany, where he taught two seminars during the university’s fourteen-week Summer Semester 2026. Offered through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the world’s largest funding organization for the international exchange of students and scholars, the highly competitive Visiting Professorship Program strengthens the internationalization of teaching and research by bringing faculty from North America to universities across Germany.

  • Prof. Plank releases "Where We Started" on Hidden Cinema Records Feb 26, 2026 9:08 AM Dr. Lisa Gruenhagen, Associate Professor of Music Education, co-authored an article with Mrs. Anna McClure, M.M., music specialist at David Hill CLC, Akron Public Schools, for the Winter 2026 issue of TRIAD (OMEA) titled Fostering Emotional Awareness and Self-Regulation in the Music Classroom, the final in a series of four articles on well-being in elementary general music.

  • Dr. Moore Presents at the Michigan Music Conference Jan 21, 2026 10:54 AM Dr. Kenneth Moore will present a session at the Michigan Music Conference titled "Your Students CAN Play in Tune: Developing an Intonation Curriculum for Your Band Program." The session will be offered on January 24, 2026 at 3:00pm in the DeVos Ambassador Ballroom. Dr. Moore will provide a model curricular outline for teaching intonation in a 5-12 school instrumental program.

  • Dr. Lisa Gruenhagen Published in TRIAD Oct 10, 2025 1:48 PM   Dr. Lisa Gruenhagen, Associate Professor of Music Education, co-authored an article with Mrs. Anna McClure, M.M., for the Fall 2025 issue of TRIAD titled Being Mindful About Physical Well-Being in Elementary General Music. In their article, Dr. Gruenhagen and Mrs. McClure discuss how the general music program can be a powerful space for nurturing physical well-being.
