Spring Housing & Move-In
We look forward to your arrival at BGSU!
If you are going to be moving to BGSU for the first time in January, WELCOME! And if you are returning student to campus, we hope you enjoyed your winter break! This page will highlight housing and move-in details for new and returning students.
If you are a student who is new to BGSU this spring or you did not live on campus in the fall, the first step to living on campus is filling out your Housing and Meal Plan Application. Students can apply for spring housing starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27.
To get started, log in to MyBGSU, go to the Housing & Residence Life section, and click "Housing and Meal Plan Application" link.
For this application, you'll provide your housing preferences that our Housing team will use to assign you as best as possible based on our housing availability. You will also select your meal plan during this application.
Check your BGSU email for your housing assingment. Our Housing team will work to assign you to a space starting in December once all of our available bed spaces are confirmed. An email will be sent to your BGSU email account to notify you when your housing assignment is ready to view.
Please note: The Office of Student Housing will be closed from Dec. 24, 2025 through Jan. 2, 2026 and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 5. Any housing applications submitted during this time will be processed immediately as soon as our office reopens on Jan. 5.
Sign-up for Spring move-in times opens Monday, Nov. 24 and closes Friday, Dec. 19. Just like Fall move-in students are required to sign up for a move-in appointment, even if you already moved into your room in the Fall semester.
Spring move-in will occur Friday, Jan. 9 through Sunday, Jan. 11. The Office of Student Housing will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
Students will sign up for their move-in time starting on Monday, Nov. 24 and details regarding the sign-up process and dates will be emailed to students' BGSU email accounts the week prior.
Step 3 | Arriving on campus
Spring move-in has less students moving in compared to the beginning of the academic school year. Because of this, students don't have to worry about driving special routes to their building and road closures. When arriving on campus you will go directly to your residence hall to check in at the front desk.
Moving Resources | The Office of Student Housing will have boxes with wheels available for students to use to help move their belongings at the halls.
Weather | Students should come prepared for the cold weather.
Student ID | If a student is new to campus this spring and moving in for the first time, they will need to show a photo ID when they check in at their hall.If a student doesn't have a BGSU ID, they can go to the Bowen Thompson Student Union after they are moved in to have one created.
Need to arrive to campus early?
If you need to arrive back to campus before Spring move-in, you will need to submit a Spring early arrival request through your BGSU Housing Portal.
Make sure you reconfirm your housing assignment on the homepage of your BGSU Housing Portal before you come to campus. Some assignments may have changed.
Packing for move-in
The BGSU Packing List is available to assist students with their packing. Before students go out and buy all new items, we recommend connecting with your roommate, sharing items can help save space and is easier on the wallet.
January Orientation
Students attending in-person Orientation on Friday, Jan. 9 should sign up for a move-in time on that same day.
