Spring Housing & Move-In

The spring semester will be here before you know it. If you are a new student moving on campus for the first time this spring, or a returning student coming back to campus after Winter Break we have all the information you need to get ready for the upcoming semester.

Apply for Spring Housing

1. Complete Your Housing Application

If you are a student who is new to BGSU this spring or you did not live on campus in the fall, the first step to living on campus is filling out your Housing and Meal Plan Application. Students can apply for spring housing starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 30.

To get started, log in to MyBGSU, go to the Housing & Residence Life section, and click "Housing and Meal Plan Application" link.

For this application, you'll provide your housing preferences that our Housing team will use to assign you as best as possible based on our housing availability. You will also select your meal plan during this application.

2. Check Your BGSU Email for Your Housing Assignment

Our Housing team will work to assign you to a space starting in December once all of our available bed spaces are confirmed. An email will be sent to your BGSU email account to notify you when your housing assignment is ready to view.

Please note: The Office of Student Housing will be closed from Dec. 25, 2023 through Jan. 1, 2024 and will reopen on Jan. 2. Any housing applications submitted during this time will be processed immediately as soon as our office reopens on Jan. 2.

3. Prepare for Move-In!

Once you have confirmed your room assignment, you can get ready for move-in!

Spring Move-In Process

1. Sign Up for a Move-In Time

Sign-Up for Spring Move-In times opens Wednesday, Nov. 28 and closes Friday, Dec. 8. Just like Fall Move-In students are required to sign up for a move-in appointment, even if you already moved into your room in the fall semester.

Spring Move-In will occur Friday, Jan. 5 through Sunday, Jan. 7. The Office of Student Housing will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Students will sign up for their Move-In Time starting on Wednesday, Nov. 28 and details regarding the sign-up process and dates will be emailed to students' BGSU email accounts the week prior.

2. Your Arrival

Spring Move-in Day has less students moving in compared to the beginning of the academic school year. Because of this, students don't have to worry about driving special routes to their building and road closures.

MOVING RESOURCES | The Office of Residence Life will have boxes with wheels available for students to use to help move their belongings.

WEATHER | Students should come prepared for the cold weather.

STUDENT ID | If a student is new to campus this spring and moving in for the first time, they will need to show a photo ID. This can be their BGSU ID.
Please note:
If a student doesn't have a BGSU ID, they can go to the Bowen Thompson Student Union after they are moved in to have one created.

3. Packing for Move-In

The BGSU Packing List is available to assist students with their packing. But before students go out and buy all new items, they should connect with their roommate to make sure they don't pack duplicates. Sharing items like a fridge or microwave can help save space and is easier on the wallet.

If a student will be living in Centennial Hall, Falcon Heights or Founders Hall, there are few extra items they should pack:

  • Shower Curtain
  • Toilet Paper
  • Bathroom Cleaning Supplies

Helpful tip: If a student's roommate has already been living on campus during the Fall Semester, they may have a lot of items already. It's a good idea to check with them ahead of time to avoid over packing.

4. Attending  January Orientation

Students attending in-person Orientation on Friday, Jan. 5 should sign up for a Move-In Time on the same day.

Learn More About January Orientation

What is January Orientation?
This informative, one-day program (created for first-year/freshman students and their transitional needs) serves as your personal introduction and transition to BGSU. The goal is to provide students, their family, and their guests with an overview of university expectations and resources.

5. Confrim Your Housing Assignment

You should reconfirm your housing assignment on the homepage of your Housing Portal before you come to campus. Some assignments may have changed.
