Mission: The mission of the BGSU Counseling Center is to meet the mental health needs and promote mental health wellness of BGSU students. Through the supportive environment at the center, students are provided with multiculturally competent care to address psychosocial stressors that may negatively impact their mental health well-being and increase the likelihood that they will retain as students at the university and reach their academic and career goals. 

Vision: The vision of the BGSU Counseling Center is to be the mental health nexus on campus and get students connected to the best mental health resource for them. We strive to continuously put students first and provide multiculturally informed competent care, outreach to students who may not normally seek out our services and create innovative programming to meet their needs. 

Emergency Mental Health Services

If this is a life-threatening emergency, please call 911. If it is not a life-threatening emergency, an on-call counselor is available to all BGSU students at 419-372-2081 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for crisis situations. The BGSU community, including students, can utilize the Wood County Crisis Line at 419-502-4673, a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week crisis resource for individuals in Wood County.

Students can face a whole spectrum of mental health issues and concerns throughout their college years. These can range from general stress, worries, or questions about services if you/they have never engaged in mental health services to needing crisis support and everything in between. Please use the following resources to help you or someone else connect to the mental health resources available to BGSU students.

The Counseling Center offers student supporters individual and group counseling, as well as educational programming to assist students in need. 

The BGSU Crisis Response Team

BGSU Crisis Response Team is designed to provide BGSU students timely crisis services after Counseling Center business hours such as assessing for risk and getting students connected to the best resources for them.  In collaboration with BGSU Campus Police, Office of the Dean of Students, and the College of Health and Human Services the BGSU crisis response team exists due to the continued commitment to reduce barriers to meet the mental health needs of our BGSU students.
