Advance your career this summer with a specialized online summer certificate from BGSU

University’s certificate programs prepare graduates for a competitive job market

Bowling Green State University’s specialized online summer certificates through its eCampus prepare graduates for a competitive job market.

BGSU is currently only one of six universities in the nation to earn the Online Learner Support Certification from Quality Matters. The certification recognizes programs that provide all the critical student and academic services needed for learner success and use learner feedback to continuously improve those services.

The following certificates can be completed over the summer and offer a great opportunity for BGSU alumni, graduating seniors and the community a chance to enhance their careers and expand their skills — and for many can be the fastest way to a raise in salary.

“These are all online graduate certificate programs that can be completed over the summer,” said Betsy Winters data analytics coordinator for the University’s Online and Summer Academic Programs. “It is a great opportunity to enhance a degree in as little as 12 weeks. These are great certificates to boost knowledge and skills for more job opportunities and establish professional credibility. These certificates also lead directly into a master’s degree in the same field.

“These programs will remain popular after COVID because time is a virtue. Being able to complete a certificate program in as little as 12 weeks to help you advance in your career is a no brainer.”

The Assistive Technology Certificate is an excellent opportunity for parents, caregivers, general educators, special educators, transition specialists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech language pathologists, rehabilitation engineers and vocational rehabilitation counselors.

The certificate is designed to develop expertise in supporting students using assistive technology. Access to assistive technology enables individuals with disabilities to participate more fully in their homes, schools and communities.

Additionally, this certificate includes the first four courses in the Master of Education in Special Education - Assistive Technology degree.

The Early Childhood Generalist Certificate can be finished in two seven-week semesters and is 100% online. The program prepares candidates to teach all subject areas in grades 4 and 5.

The Ohio Reading Endorsement Online Certificate is a preschool to grad 12 program designed for candidates who wish to focus on positions as reading teachers at all grade levels and with all students.

The Food and Nutrition Online Certificate curriculum includes studies in nutrient metabolism, food science and nutritional principles related to health and disease. The FNGC program provides knowledge of food and nutrition that is applicable to many health care, business, professional and personal situations involving nutrition.

The certificate may be desired by students currently pursuing other graduate degree programs — public health, human movement and sport, leisure studies and biological sciences — allied health professions or the dietetic internship who have an interest in advanced study of food and nutrition but do not wish to complete a graduate degree.

The Instructional Design Certificate can only enhance a candidate’s resume. Search “instructional design job” on any job-related web site and thousands of results will show up. The four graduate courses in this certificate are designed to provide advanced knowledge and skills in instructional design to equip you for this high demand field.

The certificate can be completed as a stand-alone certificate or pursued as the first four courses of the Master of Education degree in Instructional Design and Technology.
