A new study by BGSU scientists reports that urbanization might impact bees’ body temperatures and water content and possibly contribute to the decline in bee populations. The research by Justin Burdine, a BGSU doctoral candidate in biology, and Dr. Kevin McCluney appears in a recent article published in Scientific Reports.

BGSU Dining is experimenting with hydroponic garden technology in The Oaks dining hall, where five, multilayered “towers” sprout lettuces, herbs, peppers and more. The plants live in water and get nutrients from liquid fertilizers and light from specially programmed LEDs. Eventually, the produce may be used in the vegan station.

Bowling Green State University Brad Felver, associate chair and undergraduate coordinator in the English department, had quite the year in 2018, winning two major awards: the Drue Heinz Literary Prize and O. Henry Prize Story. Felver’s 14-story collection “The Dogs of Detroit” was published by the University of Pittsburgh Press.
