Individualized Business
The Individualized Business (I-Business) specialization in the Schmidthorst College of Business is designed for students who want to obtain a broad business background or who want a business program tailored to their specific needs. The individualized business specialization may be chosen by a student who is interested in general management, small business, family business, entrepreneurial firms, or who is interested in a particular industry or sector of the economy. A student can choose a business degree and combine it with studies from a discipline or field outside of the business college such as theater, health care or the arts.
Quality classroom experiences
Students can tailor their classes to what they are most interested in, with the consultation of an academic advisor.
The Business Career Accelerator assists students in obtaining internships that pertain to the individual student's industry of interest.
Students have the opportunity to study abroad to enhance their degree or minor.

Approximately half of the coursework required of the individualized business student meets the general requirements of BGSU and the Schmidthorst College of Business. The BG Perspective requirements include courses in humanities and arts, natural sciences, and social and behavioral sciences.
To meet BGSU Schmidthorst College of Business requirements, students complete admission and business core courses focusing on various areas of business.
Individualized Business students take an additional 18 to 24 hours of coursework (six to eight courses). Course selection is completed by the student working with an academic advisor, focusing on the student’s career goals.
The Schmidthorst College of Business offers outstanding academic programs, nationally recognized chapters of professional student organizations and a large base of scholarship support.
Internships and Careers
Students in this program are able to tailor their studies directly to their career goals. This provides the opportunity to develop their passion, combining it with their business degree.
The resources of the Schmidthorst College of Business and BGSU’s Career Center are available to students interested in job prospects in business. Students will be able to secure positions in banking, sales, insurance and management training.
