From September 10-16, 2017, Bowling Green State University professors Dr. Mikel Kuehn (composition), Dr. Conor Nelson (flute), Dr. Thomas Rosenkranz (piano) and Dr. Brian Snow (cello) traveled to Chengdu, China to take part in the 2nd International
Baroque Music Week at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music. At the festival they performed arias with soprano Deborah Norin-Kuehn, works for cello and piano by Fauré and the world premiere of Mikel Kuehn’s most recent work, Chimera for flute and piano, commissioned by the Fromm Foundation of Harvard University. During their stay in Chengdu, each professor presented lectures and masterclasses at the conservatory.

Over the last 10 years, BGSU has worked to create strong ties to the Sichuan Conservatory and several of their graduates and faculty have attended BGSU. As part of these efforts, auditions for admittance to the College of Musical Arts are held at the conservatory every December. During their trip, the professors had the opportunity to attend a dinner with BGSU Alumni and their families.
