Career Technical Workforce Education
Are you looking for a Provisional Career Tech Workforce Development License or a Supplemental Career Tech Workforce Development License that can be completed entirely online? BGSU is the only university in Ohio that offers this flexibility. Learn more about these options below to find out which one fits your needs. Additionally, this BGSU certificate can be used as electives for a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Teaching at BGSU, and students would only need five more courses to complete the master's program.

Provisional Career Tech Workforce Development License
A State of Ohio 2-year Career Technical Provisional Teaching License is issued to an individual who has been hired to teach in a career-technical education subject area. A 2-year license may be renewed through the state if the individual has made adequate progress (10 credit hours) towards the required 24 university credits in career tech teacher preparation. Individuals who have met all requirements after 4 years will be able to advance to a 5-year Advanced Career Technical Workforce Development Teaching License. BGSU’s State of Ohio approved program is the only one in Ohio that is available as a 100% online program. The courses in this program can be applied toward a master’s degree program in Curriculum and Teaching. The Curriculum and Teaching program is also a 100% online program.
Supplemental Career Tech Workforce Development License
An individual can apply for a State of Ohio Career Technical 1-year Supplemental Teaching License if they have been hired by a school district to teach in a career technical subject area and currently hold a resident educator, professional, permanent or five-year advanced career-technical teaching license. The teacher is required to complete 12-15 university credits in career tech teacher preparation. A Career Tech Supplemental License may be renewed two times. To renew an initial supplemental license, at least six of the 12-15 required semester hours of teacher preparation coursework must be completed. BGSU’s State of Ohio approved program is the only one in Ohio that is available as a 100% online program. The courses in this program can be apply towards a master’s degree program in Curriculum and Teaching. The Curriculum and Teaching program is also a 100% online program.
We are the only fully-online program in the State of Ohio. and we are able to offer a path from the certificate to a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Teaching.
