Student Case Competition Team Headed to APICS District Semifinals

The BGSU student team from the Department of Management qualified to advance to the semifinal round of the 2015 APICS-Mid-Atlantic District Student Case Competition – The Fresh Connection.

Team members include the following:  Brooke Barnes, a junior marketing and supply chain management student;  Ashley Materise, a senior specializing in international business and supply chain management; Shaun McKee, a senior supply chain management and business analytics & intelligence student; and Brian Pavilonis, a supply chain management senior.

This case competition used a web-based learning platform called The Fresh Connection (TFC), a cross-functional business simulation which motivates teams to deliver optimal performance by using supply chain management best practices from real-world situations. The premise of the case presented to the students was that TFC had suffered severe losses and they were “ hired” as a new management team. The team’s assignment was to make the company profitable again by realizing the highest possible Return on Investment.

The faculty advisor for the case competition team is Ms. Karen Eboch, senior lecturer in the management department.

Ms. Eboch and the student team will compete at the semifinals in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, with the winning team from that competition advancing to the APICS International Student Competition in Las Vegas in the fall.
