Entrepreneurship in Action

Entrepreneurship Week (E-Week) at BGSU is the most significant annual event for the Allen W. and Carol M. Schmidthorst College of Business. Each April, the college hosts entrepreneurial leaders from around the world to share their experience and expertise through presentations and other events including The Hatch, the Paul J. Hooker Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Hall of Fame and the Sebo Series in Entrepreneurship. Several E-Week events are open to the general public.

E-Week is also a time to showcase the accomplishments of students, recognize alumni and have some fun. Each year, the programming is developed around a central theme, and the theme for 2023 is sustainability. Alumni and world-renowned speakers will discuss sustainable ventures within our communities, businesses, and everyday lives that create positive social impacts within our community.

Lunch and Learn: Young Entrepreneurs – Creating a Sustainable Life and Community
Young entrepreneurs will be discussing why they chose entrepreneurship, the process of starting their own companies and lessons learned.

Lunch and Learn: Leveraging Digital Technology for a Sustainable Community and Business
Hear from two BGSU alumni on their careers in technology. They will discuss their career paths and share on the topics of intrapreneurship, imposter syndrome and understanding your value as an employee.

Help us honor three outstanding alumni joining the ranks of inductees who have demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit helping to shape our economies, drive growth, change industries and improve our quality of life.

Join us in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Theater for Navigating Entrepreneurship and learn from our 2023 Hall of Fame honorees.

Watch our Hatchlings student entrepreneurs present their business ideas to alumni investors, vying for funds to launch their businesses in a format similar to the popular television show “Shark Tank.”

Student Success Stories

Learning about entrepreneurship and being inspired by the entrepreneurial leaders brought to campus has opened new career paths for many BGSU students. To date, more than $800,000 has been pledged for investment in student ideas through The Hatch, and those investments - along with the support of our alumni mentors - has made a significant impact.
