Schwiebert is a two-time graduate of the Schmidthorst College of Business at Bowling Green State University and serves on the college’s Young Alumni Board, as well as the Findlay Community Diversity Equity and Inclusion Advisory Board, Findlay City Schools Diversity Equity and Belonging Committee, the Business Affiliates Board of the University of Findlay and the University of Findlay College of Business Advisory Board.

  • Dean's Co-curricular Series Fills Education Gaps With Industry-Recognized Certifications Aug 11, 2022 12:00 PM Technological change continues to increase along with the need for students to enhance their university education with application-specific skills. The dean's co-curricular series aims to support students in navigating the many industry-based digital badge and certification options through a fun and engaging atmosphere. Each month, the series will explore digital badges and certifications related to a common theme as a small cohort of students. Themes will include Lean Six Sigma, Microsoft Excel, cybersecurity, ethical leadership, Salesforce and Tableau. Each digital badge or certification will be led by an expert in that area and sponsored by the Schmidthorst College of Business to ensure access for all students. By enhancing their skills through these digital certifications, students will be able to demonstrate to employers both their drive for lifelong learning, as well as technical expertise on these platforms. This program will complement the experiential learning and digital badges already integrated into the curriculum, further ensuring our graduates are prepared to be leaders in their future careers.

Schmeltz Atrium as we enhance the opportunity for students to engage with industry leaders and learn more about potential business careers. Working across departments and with our active research centers and institutes, we will share with students from across campus the breadth of choices available for students who choose to pursue both majors and minors in business-related fields. Employers participating in an Employer Spotlight will share information about the organization's culture, unique industry perspectives, application of business techniques and their personal career paths to inspire students on their journeys. These spotlights will support students in the development of their professional networks and, hopefully, in preparing them for internships and full-time employment.   • Online MBA Passes the 200th Graduate Milestone! Aug 11, 2022 12:00 PM The online MBA was launched two and a half years ago with a starting cohort of 32 students. We are excited to announce that after summer commencement, we have graduated 275 students from the program. Due to the online format, we have been able to extend our impact across the globe. We are proud to have new alumni from Washington state to Thailand. By the end of 2022, the program expects to have supported over 300 students in earning their MBA from the Schmidthorst College of Business.

  • Schmidthorst Student Extends BGSU Success in Spring 2022 Capsim International Global Competition Aug 11, 2022 12:00 PM BGSU Schmidthorst College of Business student Jacob Barga recently placed fifth in the Spring 2022 Capsim Foundation Challenge. Jacob's participation as a finalist marks the 10th semester in a row a BGSU student has earned finalist status in this competition. Worldwide, no other university has more Capsim Challenge finalists. Jacob competed against others from India, Turkey, Malaysia and the United States.

  • Undergraduate Programs Growing While Increasing Student Support and Access Aug 11, 2022 12:00 PM One of the strategic priorities for BGSU and the Schmidthorst College of Business is to serve our community through access to high-quality learning experiences. This year, we are working with partners across campus to increase supports for deciding students interested in exploring business. BGSU is also expanding access to the signature Life Design program where students have the opportunity to learn design thinking and work with a coach to apply these principles to personalize their University experience and design their unique career path. We are working on updating our introduction to business course to integrate core Life Design principles so all business students will build this competency.

The Leadership Council presented Faculty Excellence Awards in teaching, research, and co-curricular activities with positive societal change. Each recipient received a plaque and an award of $5,000.

  • Four Alumni Inducted into the Paul J. Hooker Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Hall of Fame Apr 21, 2022 9:30 AM Four Bowling Green State University alumni were inducted into the Paul J. Hooker Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Hall of Fame on April 21, 2022. The inductees are Julie Brandle’93, Bruce Fisher’68, Mike Hart ‘94, and Eric Nowlin’82. The Hall of Fame recognizes BGSU graduates, honorary degree holders, and members of the regional community who have achieved distinction for founding, leading, or building a new business enterprise for five years or more.

  • Associate Dean Awarded Inaugural Chan Hahn Professorship in Supply Chain Management Apr 20, 2022 2:30 PM Janet Harley, PhD, Professor and Associate Dean of Schmidthorst Graduate Programs, Faculty Affairs, Budgeting and Research, was awarded the first Chan Hahn Professorship in Supply Chain Management. This endowed professorship was created to honor Dr. Chan Hahn, a well-respected advisor, career coach and father figure to a generation of BGSU supply chain and procurement operations students.

Vogt Outstanding Senior Award, named in honor of a former dean of the Schmidthorst College.
