Bowling Green State University, Department of Marketing, is seeking applicants for a one year non-renewable, non-tenure track Instructor position to begin Fall 2017.  Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with peer institution levels.  Candidates are required to have a master’s degree in business, communication, or related field.  Teaching responsibilities will be at the undergraduate level in overview of business administration, applied business experiences, and business communications courses, with possible additional courses in marketing.  Instructor should expect to participate in recruiting efforts such as university preview days, university Presidents’ Day, etc.  Candidates should have at least 2 years recent business experience and some experience in applying design thinking principles and active learning pedagogy.

Primary Responsibilities

  • The position will enhance the College’s continuing pursuit in program and research development in business analytics at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Teaching responsibilities may include courses in Applied Statistics, Analytics, and Data Science at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of all of the requirements for a Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a closely related field is required by the starting date.
  • Candidate’s portfolio must include evidence (working paper, dissertation chapter, etc.) of the development of analytic tools relevant to business.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of quality teaching (student evaluations, peer reviews, etc.)
  • Evidence of significant progression towards research accomplishments (paper presentations, publications, etc.)
  • Evidence of collaborative application of analytics to areas such as supply chain, economics, marketing, and other business fields.

Department of Marketing Chair
Bowling Green State University

Bowling Green State University (BGSU) invites applicants for a position in marketing at the associate or full professor level to be Chair of the Department of Marketing starting Fall 2018. The department has undergraduate programs in marketing, sales and services marketing, and entrepreneurship. The marketing and sales and services marketing specializations have a combined enrollment of 370, with an additional 320 marketing minors and 140 entrepreneurship minors.  Introductory and applied business experience courses, business communications, as well as MBA courses are offered in a variety of formats. The Chair is expected to teach one class each semester, oversee alumni engagement, support a strong research environment in the department, maintain AACSB accreditation requirements for the department, and manage departmental personnel and budgets.

Required qualifications:

An earned Ph.D. or D.B.A. in business from an AACSB accredited university/college. The candidate should hold an Associate Professor or higher rank.  

Preferred qualifications:

An earned doctorate in Marketing or a closely-related business discipline from an AACSB accredited university/college. Current or previous experience as a department chair or in an administrative role preferred. Evidence of significant intellectual contributions in marketing or related business fields and a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and service are desired. The preferred candidate is eligible for tenure and appointment at full professor rank.

  • Contributions to the University’s Research goals, through securing external funding and research grants, or collaborating with other researchers, is expected.
  • Participation in the development of the University’s program in Data Science is also expected.

 Minimum Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a closely related field is required. 
  • Previous experience in leadership positions, or similar activities, is also required.
  • A successful candidate is expected to have demonstrated excellence in teaching and an established record of quality research.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some industrial experience, experience working with companies on data science projects, or experience obtaining external research grants, is highly desirable.
