Dr. Amy Acton is a licensed physician in Preventive Medicine and Public Health with over 30 years of experience in executive leadership, academic and nonprofit administration, philanthropy, government and community service, teaching and data analysis, medical practice, and health care policy and advocacy. Dr. Acton’s vision is to create the conditions in which all our citizens can lead flourishing lives, and contribute to their fullest potential.
Most recently, as the Vice President of Human:Kind at The Columbus Foundation, Dr. Acton was dedicated to improving community well-being and spreading the words and actions of kindness as a defining value. Her responsibilities included overseeing the Foundation’s Kindness funds and investments.Dr. Acton rejoined the Foundation after serving as Director of the Department of Health for the State of Ohio. As the top health adviser to Gov. Mike DeWine during the COVID-19 pandemic, she combined scientific facts with an empathetic nature to guide the people of Ohio during an unprecedented crisis. Among many honors, Dr. Acton received the JFK Library Profile in Covid Courage Award for her leadership and service during the pandemic.
Taylor Lechner, MFN, RD, LD
The Effects of COVID-19 on Eating Disorder Risk: What health professionals can do to help
Taylor is a Columbus-based dietitian who specializes in treating clients with eating disorders and disordered eating. Taylor graduated with a major in dietetics and dual minors in psychology and organizational leadership & supervision from Purdue University. She went on to receive her master's degree from Bowling Green State University. Her research is published in the International Journal of Exercise Science. She is the clinical nutrition manager at The Emily Program where she has worked at all levels of care. She is the co-founder of LK Nutrition LLC, which focuses on group nutrition counseling from a non-diet, weight inclusive lens. In addition to counseling clients, she has a passion for educating professionals. She creates and leads online courses teaching dietitians and students how to effectively work with clients struggling with eating disorders.
Ashley Hartman, MPH, CHES, OCPC
Building Mental Well-Being
Ashley Hartman, MPH, CHES®, OCPC is a mental health educator and recovery advocate. She has over 10 years of experience in the field of health education and prevention, predominately in the fields of mental health and addition. Currently she serves as the Health Educator – Mental Health Focus at Bowling Green State University. In this role she implements mental health and wellness programs for the campus community. She has experience serving a variety of populations and settings including middle and high schools, higher education, older adults, racial and ethnic minorities, criminal justice, rural, urban, and suburban communities, workplaces, community mental health, and drug and alcohol treatment facilities. She obtained her degrees in Applied Health Science from Bowling Green State University, and Master of Public Health at the Ohio State University, and is a Certified Health Education Specialist, Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant, and Adult Mental Health First Aid Instructor. She has presented at local, state, and national conferences, and is the Board President of the Problem Gambling Network of Ohio.
Krista Wasowski, MSW, MPH
The New Normal for Public Health
Krista Wasowski has 18 years of public health management experience, serving currently as the Health Commissioner for Medina County, Ohio. Ms. Wasowski is a steering committee member of the Ohio 21st Century Project which examines costing, financing, structure, and health outcomes of the public health system. She co-chaired the Public Health Futures workgroup for the Association of Ohio Health Commissioner and represented AOHC on the legislative committee that examined the Ohio system in 2016. Ms. Wasowski holds a Masters degree in Social Work and a Masters degree in Public Health from The Ohio State University.
