Curriculum and Teaching
The part-time master’s program in curriculum and teaching at BGSU is designed for practicing teachers who want to expand their existing license and build 21st-century technology skills. It takes about two years to complete.
The M.Ed. program enhances curricular innovation and teaching practices necessary for master teachers. It is based on the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession.
Seven-week courses during the academic year (or six-week courses in the summer) and field-based teaching experiences lead to a final project or thesis.
The required 12 credit hours of electives offer the choice of an Ohio teaching certificate or an endorsement. Students also may choose from contemporary offerings in alignment with Ohio’s teaching needs or design their own customized curricular focus to fulfill the elective requirement.

Participating in the curriculum and teaching master’s program at BGSU helped me to further develop my skills in my own classroom. Every professor I had was open, flexible and intelligent. They answered all of my questions, and I felt a sense of community even though it was entirely online. I learned a lot that I could directly apply to my teacher life. I enjoyed participating in classes and had a wonderful advisor who helped me the entire way.
