Field spectroradiometer: Spectral Evolution PSR-1100f model purchased July 2025. Can be used to track changes in algal blooms over time, such as their density, size, and composition. Physical watershed model: An Emriver EM4 model was installed in August 2025. Classroom tool for teaching river dynamics principles in geology and hydrology. Provides hand-on experiences for students learning about sediment transport, erosion, effects of dredging, flood dynamics, and groundwater behavior. Imaging FlowCytoBot (IFCB): An automated submersible video microscope capable of capturing high resolution images of algae, with automatic analysis of up to 30,000 images per hour. Targeted for deployment on the Viking cruise ship Polaris for Great Lakes system monitoring in May 2026. Will also be used in outreach and education. Fish rearing system: Two Oceans Design Research Racks include six 20 gal tanks each with pumps, UV, and required plumbing purchased Sept. 2025. Allows for replicated experiments on fish and other aquatic organisms in highly controlled environments, for example testing effects of emerging contaminants on fish development and behavior.
