Tosoh EcoSEC HLC-8320GPC System
Tosoh EcoSEC HLC-8320GPC System
The Tosoh EcoSEC HLC-8320GPC is a high-performance, all-in-one Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) system engineered for the precise characterization of synthetic polymers. By integrating every critical component into a single, temperature-stabilized unit, the HLC-8320GPC delivers the baseline stability and reproducibility required for advanced research in the photochemical and polymer sciences.
## Integrated Design & Performance
The HLC-8320GPC is built around an all-in-one architecture that integrates the pump, autosampler, column oven, and detectors into a single compact unit. This design keeps internal dead volume exceptionally low—under 20 µL in semi-micro configuration—which translates directly to:
Sharper chromatographic peaks and higher resolution.
More accurate molar mass distributions (Mn, Mw, and PDI).
Reduced solvent requirements (up to 85% less) compared to conventional multi-module setups.
## Advanced Detection Capabilities
Dual-Flow Refractive Index (RI) Detection: One of the system's defining strengths. By simultaneously passing both sample and reference streams through matched flow cells, the detector achieves a level of baseline stability and drift reduction that single-flow RI detectors cannot match. This is critical for long batch runs or environments with fluctuating laboratory temperatures.
Integrated UV Detector: Complements the RI channel and can be operated in tandem, enabling simultaneous compositional analysis of copolymers or selective detection of UV-absorbing chromophores within a polymer backbone.
## Precision & Stability
Temperature stability is maintained throughout the entire fluidic path. Both the pump and the column oven are independently temperature-controlled, ensuring that flow rate precision is maintained regardless of ambient conditions. This thermal management is the foundation for reproducible retention times and accurate molecular weight calculations across extensive sample sets.
## Technical Specifications & Software
The system is fully controlled through the EcoSEC WorkStation software, providing a unified interface for method setup, real-time data acquisition, and automated calibration.
## Applications at CPS
Polymer Synthesis: Real-time monitoring of polymerization kinetics and final molar mass.
Copolymer Analysis: Utilizing dual-detection (RI + UV) to determine chemical composition distribution.
Quality Control: High-throughput screening of raw materials and resin consistency.
Unattended Analysis: Programmable sequences and high-capacity autosampler for efficient overnight data collection.
