Fall 2023 Jazz Ensemble Auditions

Rhythm Section for all Jazz Ensembles (piano, bass, guitar, drums, vibraphone):
Monday, August 21, at 6:00-7:30 pm, Kelly Hall (Room 1012)

·      Lead sheets and big-band parts with a rhythm section. Expect to read chord symbols and traditional notation, comp, and solo.

·      Please arrive by 6pm and stay until auditions are over.

 
Lab Band Instruments (saxophones, trumpets, trombones): 
Tuesday, August 22, from 1:00-3:30 pm, Choral Room (Room 1040)

·      Read a lab band part, soloing optional but encouraged.

·      Saxophones 1:00-1:50, trumpets 1:50-2:40, trombones 2:40-3:30.

·      Auditions heard in order of arrival.

Chamber Jazz Ensemble Horns (all non-rhythm section instruments): 
Tuesday, August 22, from 6:00-7:30 pm, Room 2019b

·      Prepare an American songbook tune or a jazz standard. Play melody and solo.

·      Auditions heard in order of arrival.
