Music Discovery Day

When: Monday, October 17, 2016 (all day)
Where: Moore Musical Arts Center

Description:
Ever wondered what it would be like to be a music major for a day? Over 300 high school students register annually for this event, where they can attend rehearsals of the college large ensembles: Wind Symphony, Concert Band, Women's Chorus, Bowling Green Philharmonia, Men's Chorus, Collegiate Chorale, A Cappella Choir, Opera Theater and the Falcon Marching Band. Students can also sit in on classes, workshops and rehearsals of small ensembles. Staff from the University's admissions and financial aid offices are available to answer questions. In addition, visiting students can meet with music faculty members. Parents and guests are encouraged, but not required, to attend. Parents and guests are welcome to attend sessions with your students, or you may split up to attend more sessions throughout the day.

37th Annual New Music Festival

Description:
At the heart of activities for the MidAmerican Center for Contemporary Music Center [MACCM] is the renowned New Music Festival held annually at Bowling Green State University.
 
This annual event celebrates the contemporary arts through concerts, panels, art exhibitions, seminars, master classes and papers. Begun in 1980, the festival has hosted John Adams, John Luther Adams, Samuel Adler, Milton Babbitt, William Bolcom, Anthony Braxton, John Cage, Chen Yi, John Corigliano, George Crumb, Mario Davidovsky, Anthony Davis, Philip Glass, John Harbison, Lou Harrison, Karel Husa, Joan La Barbara, David Lang, Paul Lansky, George Lewis, Robert Morris, Pauline Oliveros, Shulamit Ran, Bernard Rands, Terry Riley, Christopher Rouse, Frederic Rzewski, Gunther Schuller, Joseph Schwantner, Bright Sheng, Steven Stucky, Morton Subotnick, Joan Tower, Vladimir Ussachevsky and more than 350 other guest composers and musicians.
