Perry T. Cabean is the Principal and Owner of Grand Street Capital Management, L.L.C. (GSCM), a North Carolina registered investment advisory firm. He has over 23 years of professional investment experience. Perry oversees the processes of investment research, portfolio construction and management, trading, and all marketing activities. GSCM provides investment advisory services to individual, institutional, and non-profit clients. Perry received his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Michigan in 1989 and earned his MBA in Finance from Bowling Green State University in 1994 where he wrote his thesis, The Cross-Section of Expected Stock Returns By Industry.

Prior to breaking into the investment industry, Perry enjoyed brief stints at General Motors and the Ford Motor company as a Staff Accountant and a Financial Analyst, respectively. He began his investment career as an Investment Analyst with Wilmoco Capital Management in Detroit, Michigan. After serving as the firm’s Operations Manager, Perry eventually became the firm’s Chief Investment Officer and was responsible for the investment research activities and management of the firm’s portfolio strategies. Perry then moved on to work as a Portfolio Manager at Comerica Bank’s Private Banking division. Next, he was recruited to Wachovia Bank (Wells Fargo) in Winston-Salem, NC, where he served as a Portfolio Manager in their Evergreen Private Asset Management (EPAM) department. Perry also worked as a Financial Advisor for Merrill Lynch before founding GSCM in 2009.

Perry remains active in community related activities and has lobbied on Capital Hill for the Community Re-investment Act (CRA). Perry also served five years as a NCAA Division I Track and Field Coach at North Carolina A&T. He is a former board member for Gleaners Community Food Bank of Detroit and a former Treasurer of The Children Museum of Detroit. Currently, Perry serves on the Executive Committee of The Twenty, a Winston-Salem, North Carolina based think tank dedicated to providing economic empowerment and access to capital to North Carolina’s marginalized communities. Perry resides in Lewisville, North Carolina with his wife, attorney Flora J. Cabean.
