Dennis R. Adams

American Mutual Share Insurance Corporation (ASI)

Mr. Adams joined American Mutual Share Insurance Corporation as Senior Vice President – Risk Management in April, 1986.  He has since moved from Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer to President/Chief Executive Officer and Board Member.   ASI is a mutual insurer, which in conjunction with its wholly-owned subsidiary Excess Share Insurance Corporation (ESI), insures $15 billion in consumer deposits in approximately 400 credit unions operating 33 states.

Previously, Mr. Adams was President of Adams & Company, Inc., CPAs in Cleveland, Ohio.  He was Incorporator and sole owner of an audit and accounting firm specializing in the examination of credit unions within the state of Ohio.

In 1972, Mr. Adams started working for Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as Internal Auditor and then as Supervisory Auditor. In 1974, he went to work for Coopers & Lybrand, CPAs in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as Senior Auditor and later as Tax Supervisor where he supervised three staff practitioners.  Tax concentration was in the area of US. citizens working abroad and foreign tax matters at the firm’s largest client, Alcoa Aluminum.

Dennis received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Bowling Green State University in 1972 and his MBA from Capital University in 1991.
