Music Technology Assistantships

Prerequisites

  • Knowledge of digital and analog studio techniques
  • Computing skills
  • Background as a composer

Typical Duties

  • Assist with class preparation
  • Assist in grading and record keeping
  • Tutor students and run help sessions
  • Occasionally teach class and proctor exams
  • Assist in the Music Technology and Recording Studios
  • Assist with studio upkeep (hardware, software, other equipment)
  • Assist with technology-related concert preparation

Work Schedule

  • Attend class sessions with professor
  • Hold twice-weekly tutorial sessions/office hours
  • Perform weekly maintenance on Music Technology Studios
  • Monitor use of Music Technology and Recording Studios
  • Other duties as requested by Music Technology Coordinator

Special Requirements

  • Knowledge of audio techniques, experience using digital audio software, and experience with live sound audio equipment configuration/setup required
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software maintenance is a plus
  • Second-year continuation not mandatory, but preferred

Selection Requirements

  • Interview with chair of the Department of Musicology/Composition/Theory and with the Music Technology Coordinator

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in music
  • Unconditional admission to the Graduate College
  • A campus interview/audition
