Alumnus Back on Campus to Check Out how the College is Going Beyond Business As Usual

David Stickler '83, one of Big River Steel’s founding investors and a member of the company’s board of directors, was named chief executive officer in August 2015. 

Stickler serves as senior managing director of Global Principal Partners of Miami, the investment group that arranged Big River Steel’s financing. Throughout his twenty years in the metals and recycling industries, he has invested in, structured and raised billions of dollars of capital for numerous high-profile steel projects throughout the world, including several greenfield mini mill projects. In addition to providing and raising capital for these projects, Stickler provides ongoing management assistance. 

Stickler has raised billions of dollars of startup and expansion capital for new and growing steel companies in both Asia and North America. He has also gained a reputation for successfully designing and implementing restructuring plans for metals companies throughout the world. 

Most recently, he led a group in founding a new company focused on processing electronic waste in a manner that eliminates the need to export raw or shredded electronic waste, thereby providing a domestic cradle-to-grave solution. 

Stickler earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and an accounting degree from Bowling Green State University.
