Marketing Attendant and Student Supervisor (2019-21)
Haley Zywiczynski, a Perrysburg, OH native, found her belonging at BGSU after joining the Recreation and Wellness marketing team. Her experience on this team helped her establish new leadership skills and step out of her comfort zone.
I’ve always looked for ways to grow as a leader and step out of my comfort zone! When Haley began her BGSU career in 2017, she was an undecided major open to anything that crossed her path. It wasn’t long until she began pursuing her interest in marketing and design. After declaring her major in Visual Communication Technology, Haley’s next step was getting involved on campus. Looking for ways to build a network and meet new people, she joined a leadership and service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, and started working for BGSU Residence Life as an Academic Peer Mentor. Soon after, Haley became part of the BGSU Recreation and Wellness family as a Marketing Attendant. In May 2020, she was inspired to expand her leadership skills and decided to step up as the Marketing Student Supervisor. “I’ve always looked for ways to grow as a leader and step out of my comfort zone,” Zywiczynski said.
When Haley first began her position in marketing, she felt belonging. Not only did she utilize her talents in design and marketing, but she also made life-long connections. “Recreation and Wellness became a family to me. I’ve met so many wonderful people within this role that I’ll never forget.Recreation and Wellness became a family to me. I’ve met so many wonderful people within this role that I’ll never forget,” Zywiczynski explained. Haley swears it was fate that she had the opportunity to work with her best friend and do what she loved. Her favorite memories within her experience included designing and implementing a campus-wide well-being initiative called THRIVE and the occasional office jam sessions. “I’ve cried laughing, dancing and singing with my co-workers. We created a bond we’ll cherish forever,” said Zywiczynski.
Recreation and Wellness helped Haley to step out of her comfort zone, become a better leader, and build life-long connections she will never forget. She will continue to apply this unforgettable experience to her future career in marketing and design.
