Equipment Checkout

Policies

To utilize the Equipment Checkout Program, you must be a current music major, graduate student, or faculty at the CMA

Minimum experience:

  • Music Majors or Grad Students: successful completion of either MUCT 4360/5360 Recording Techniques, MUCT 4440 Music Technology I, or equivalent coursework
  • Current Faculty: basic experience with microphones and recording software

Equipment cannot be checked out on behalf of someone else, i.e. the person checking out the equipment must be the same person operating the equipment

Student/Faculty must provide their own laptop and recording software, or other means of recording, such as a portable field recorder with XLR input(s)—recording devices are not included in the equipment kits

Maximum duration for each checkout instance is seven calendar days. Students/Faculty can extend their reservation if no one else is waiting in the queue.

Checkout/Check-In will take place on weekdays at times coordinated with Recording Services

Reservations can be made up to one month in advance

Equipment kits may be taken home, off campus, etc.

Violation of these policies or loss/damage of equipment due to negligence forfeits future access
