Dr. Lisa Gruenhagen Published in TRIAD

Dr. Lisa Gruenhagen, Associate Professor of Music Education, co-authored an article with Mrs. Anna McClure, M.M., music specialist at David Hill CLC, Akron Public Schools, for the Winter 2026 issue of TRIAD (OMEA) titled Fostering Emotional Awareness and Self-Regulation in the Music Classroom, the final in a series of four articles on well-being in elementary general music. This article focuses on how teachers can support students in becoming emotionally aware and self-regulated by teaching them to identify feelings and guiding them in managing those feelings. Doing so helps build skills for better focus, resilience, positive relationships, and collaborative music making.
