College of Musical Arts 2021-2022 academic year in review
“We’re back” was the overall theme for 2021-2022 in the College of Musical Arts. There was palpable enthusiasm and energy from the first day to the last as we returned to in-person classes, rehearsals, performances and seminars. The past two years of the pandemic have taught us lessons of resilience, perseverance, innovation, patience and adaptability. In his talk to CMA students in 2017, composer Jake Heggie said that “Music is essential and essentially optimistic.” This certainly has been true through the pandemic in the CMA. We have much to be proud of: an excellent faculty, enthusiastic and talented students and an amazing base of alumni and friends. Thank you for your continued support and contributions to the College of Musical Arts.
Please enjoy these highlights from the past academic year.
Best wishes,

William Mathis
Dean
