Peace Corps Coverdell Fellows
The Paul D. Coverdell Fellows Program is a graduate fellowship program that offers financial assistance to Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs).
The partnership between BGSU and the Peace Corps benefits students in the CSP and HIED programs.
Benefits
100% of tuition is covered (in-state only beyond first year) for CSP and HIED students with an internship or assistantship. General fees are not. CSP’s internship/assistantship stipend is $10,000 whereas the HIED stipend is $15,000. There are no waived credits for previous experience but students may transfer in up to 9 graduate credits. Students are required to submit a signed Description of Service (DOS) with their application materials.
Internship Requirement
Students who are Coverdell Fellows are required to participate in an internship that entails working with an underserved population. There are 50 different internship/assistantship sites located on our campus and within the region. Each internship/assistantship includes various administrative responsibilities relative to higher education student services (e.g. international education, academic advising, career services, and residence life).
Volunteer Hours
Students who are Coverdell Fellows are required to complete at least 10 hours of volunteer service per academic school year, starting in Fall 2018.
CSP Master's Program
The College Student Personnel program prepares practitioners for positions in student affairs through an integration of theory-based course work emphasizing student learning, growth, and development that is complemented by professional internships in college or university settings.
HIED Doctoral Program
This nationally recognized Ph.D. program emphasizes informed, ethical decision making in the administration of higher education. It is intended to launch its graduates into new areas and/or higher levels of leadership in colleges and universities.
