Management Information Systems Advisory Board
The Management Information Systems Advisory Board is comprised of successful alumni and friends of the Department of Accounting and MIS. The Board draws upon their professional expertise to advise the Dean, Department Chair, and faculty on strategic planning, curricula, student mentorship, co-ops, job placement, career development, faculty engagement with industry, and alumni affairs. In addition, the Board promotes the Department by highlighting the achievements of faculty, students, and alumni in their professional network. The Board meets once or twice per year. Members are expected to attend meetings and be available to advise the Chair between meeting(s).

Steve is an IT Leader at Owens Corning’s world headquarters in Toledo, Ohio. In his 30-year career he has held most positions within IT, and most recently is leading a newly-formed Personal Technology Experience group. He is active in early career recruiting for BGSU and also serves on the BGSU Computer Science Advisory Board.

Jeff has held various positions in the IT Department of Eaton Corporation over the last 27+ years, including programmer, E-commerce Team Member, project leader, WMS Implementation Team Member, manager of ERP Implementations, and most recently as the manager of the global development team for ERP Development.

I have been working at Pearson, publishing in the higher education space since 2006. I became the portfolio manager for the IT list in 2009 and added the MIS list in 2014. In my free time I teach CCD to 2nd graders, garden, cook, and spend time with my husband, Steve, and our 4 year old son, Desmond.
Director, Manufacturing & Engineering Service Delivery
James Nester is currently working as the Director of Enterprise SAP at Owens-Illinois, Inc. (O-I). James is a member of the O-I Information Technology Leadership Team and works with IT Leaders around the world on key company initiatives. He is currently assigned to the O-I office in Melbourne, Australia where he is leading the implementation of O-I’s global business processes, on the SAP platform, in Australia, New Zealand, China and Indonesia.
Previous to his current role, James was the Director of Manufacturing & Engineering Service Delivery, and was accountable for the support and delivery of IoT, MES and PLM solutions globally. His most recent responsibilities mainly revolved around architecting a global manufacturing information system (GMIS) in order to standardize tools and processes on the shop floor. James has also led the Reporting and Analytics function within Information Technology, developing a new company strategy for addressing the growing need for self-service analytics and harnessing the power of “Big Data”. James also has 3 years’ experience in continuous improvement being certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt in 2009. James joined O-I in 2000 and has worked in many functions within IT over the past 18 years in addition to those previously mentioned including project management and infrastructure.
He earned a BLS from Bowling Green State University with a focus on Computer Science and Education.
Bethany has spent 16 years in the IS field, and is currently an IS instructor at BGSU and the faculty advisor for the IS student group, ISO (Information Systems Organization). She has held a variety of IS roles in areas including data, governance, and business intelligence.

I have held positions within Enterprise Architecture and Enterprise Information Management (EIM) teams with architectural responsibilities related to customer relationship management, master data management, and enterprise data warehouse environments. The detailed responsibilities within these environments have included creating and maintaining current and target state data architecture documentation, along with the interim states to document the road map to the target state, data analysis, logical and physical data modeling, metadata management, documenting development design patterns, data management policies and standards, and other domain and application architectural reviews.
