We encourage potential students to learn more about our majors by visiting BGSU.

The School of Art offers two types of degrees: a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA).
The School of Art offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in:
There is not a portfolio requirement for students pursuing a BA degree through the School of Art. Students selecting the Art BA (with specializations in Digital Arts or Studio Art) will have to select a minor to supplement their major. Minors may be within or outside of the arts, students have the flexibility to create a degree that works for their specific career goals.
The School of Art offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in:
- Art Education
- Digital Arts
- Graphic Design
- Studio Art (Ceramics, Glass, Jewelry/Metals, Painting/Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture)
While there is not a portfolio requirement for acceptance into the School of Art, full admission to the BFA degree is competitive and requires students to pass the BFA Portfolio Review. Students seeking a BFA will be required to submit 10-15 works of art during Spring semester of their first year of study in the School of Art. If they are not successful in passing the BFA Portfolio Review their first year, they may attempt to pass the following year. If they do not pass on their second attempt, students must opt to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree.
