Profile:

Jasmine Crighton teaches media production and journalism courses and advises BG24, the broadcast journalism division of BG Falcon Media, and the BGSU chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Jasmine’s background includes a 2009 Emmy win for Outstanding Technical Director in the Pacific Southwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). She won this while working in the Las Vegas, NV, television market. She has also worked as a web producer and news producer in Steubenville, OH.

Jasmine is a two-time winner of the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System’s Outstanding Advisor Award for College Television and in 2019 was recognized as a Distinguished Broadcast Adviser by the College Media Association. She was also named a “Noteworthy Journalism Educator” in 2019 by Crain’s NewsPro magazine.

Under Jasmine’s guidance, BG24 students have been recognized with awards from CMA, Press Club of Toledo, Society of Professional Journalists, and the NATAS Central Great Lakes student production competition.

In 2021, Jasmine was elected to the board of governors of the Central Great Lakes chapter of NATAS. She previously served on the board of the Mid-America chapter of NATAS. She’s also a member in several other professional organizations including the College Media Association, Broadcast Education Association, Illinois News Broadcasters Association, Investigative Reporters & Editors, and the Society of Professional Journalists.
