- Recipients must need financial assistance, have applied for all available federal and state grants, loans and work study programs and have an SAI (Student Aid Index) of 16,000 or less, according to the federal calculation on the FAFSA form; If there is any change to your 2024-2025 SAI, which results in an index number over 16,000, you will no longer be eligible to receive the Thompson Working Families Scholarship or participate in the program.
- Recipients must submit materials and documents to prove financial need, which includes completing the FAFSA and any additional verification documents, if required, each year by the BGSU priority deadline;
- Students receiving a BGSU University Freshmen Academic Scholarship (UFAS) greater than $5,500 will see a reduction of that scholarship to $5,500. The BGSU portion of this award may only be used for general and instructional fees. UFAS plus Thompson Working Families combined can only be awarded up to $11,000;
- This scholarship is primarily for BGSU instructional and general fees, room and board, and books. You may not use your scholarship to pay for charges being billed by another institution for unique programs of enrollment available at BGSU;
- If you are the recipient of federal, state, private or other University financial aid, it may be necessary to adjust your financial awards. It is your responsibility to notify Student Financial Aid & Scholarships of all aid you will be receiving, by sending a copy of notice of each award;

- Scholarships are for Bowling Green main campus enrollment and tuition rate only. They may not be used at Firelands campus or for online courses charged at the online rate, including any program considered part of Distance or BGSU Online;
