Summer Link Program

Summer Link Program

Are you an incoming freshman Thompson Scholar? We encourage you to participate in our free Summer Link orientation program. It is designed to help you enjoy a smooth transition to life at BGSU.

You’ll learn about all the tools you need to succeed. Prior Summer Link session topics have included:

  • Advice and tools for time management
  • Overcoming imposter syndrome
  • Understanding campus systems and technology
  • Motivation
  • Using our service portal, BGSUserves, to find and log service hours

Discover what it means to be a Thompson Scholar

This unique opportunity allows you to connect, engage and serve with other Thompson Scholars and our staff before the semester begins.

Connect with other scholars and staff while learning more about the legacy of the Thompsons and all that BGSU has to offer.

Engage in social, personal, and professional development sessions and experiences to help prepare you for life at college. Learn about the resources and support offered through the Thompson Scholarship Programs office.

Serve with your cohort. Learn about meaningful service and how to find service opportunities on campus and in the Bowling Green community. Bonus: Participating in the Summer Link program allows you to earn a few service hours before the official start of the fall semester!

Finding the orientation that’s right for you

Summer Link orientation (recommended)

During this four-day orientation, you'll get to move in early and enjoy interactive activities and sessions to learn all about BGSU. It is expected that incoming Scholars will attend the Summer Link program unless you have a conflict or extenuating circumstances that can't be avoided. Watch your BGSU email for info about signing up!

One-Day Orientation

Our one-day orientation may work better with your busy schedule if you’re joining an organization such as the Falcon Marching Band or a Learning Community. You’ll still become acquainted with all things BGSU, but at a more condensed pace. We'll send details regarding orientation signup to your BGSU email.
