Food Safety

The safety of the food we provide to our university community is an important aspect of managing risk. The rules for food service at university events are found in the below policy.

Summary of Food Service Policy

University-approved providers have exclusive rights on campus

  • AVI for athletic spaces
  • BGSU Dining rest of campus
  • AVI has deferred to Falcon Sports Properties for Football tailgate

Only University-approved providers can provide High-risk food on campus

  • University-approved providers, at their sole discretion, may allow third-party caterers to provide service
  • Such approval must be obtained in writing by the hosting department or venue booking agent
  • Low-Risk food can be purchased elsewhere for on-campus events, when the event food total is less than $250
  • BTSU and Olscamp 101 are exclusive BGSU Dining spaces, no outside food permitted

Policy doesn’t apply to office potlucks

Third-party renters of the Rec/Field House can host concession stands

Events held off-campus, when using university funds, High-Risk food must be provided by a licensed professional
