University Policies
The Office of General Counsel is responsible for the posting of all University policies. The policies found on this website are the official University policies. In the event a party wants to create a new policy or change an existing policy, the policy template must be requested by contacting the Policy Coordinator, Allie Felty. Before requesting the policy be reviewed by the Policy Review Council there are several steps to be completed including, a review by the Office of General counsel and constituent feedback. Please use the Checklist for Policy Development to assist in the policy drafting or revision process. The Policy on Policy Development also outlines the full process.

| Policy Number | Policy | Brief Description of Amendment |
|---|---|---|
| 3341-2-28 | Code of Student Conduct | The proposed changes to the Code of Student Conduct to better align with current law, federal definitions, and the university’s Strategic Plan. The revisions update the university’s Core Values language and modify definitions within prohibited conduct, including sexual misconduct, drug-related offenses, and misconduct while under the influence, to reflect broader and more current interpretations. Several sections clarify the scope of noncompliance, interference with university processes, and the roles of university officials involved in conduct administration. Overall, the updates focus on clearer standards and definitions, and improved alignment with external legal requirements. |
| 3341-6-4 | Athletic/Bowl Game Travel and Entertainment Related Expense | These revisions clarify how athletic and bowl game‑related travel and entertainment expenses are evaluated for tax purposes. The updates further distinguish between expenses incurred for a documented business purpose and those that may constitute taxable income. The policy now clearly addresses expenses related to spouses, dependents, and other guests, including documentation and reporting expectations. Additional clarification is provided regarding airfare, lodging, meals, tickets, and similar benefits to promote consistent application of IRS rules. Overall, the changes strengthen compliance and provide clearer guidance on the tax treatment of these expenses. |
| 3341-6-63 | Sales Tax on Business Purposes | This policy establishes clear requirements for the proper use of the university’s Ohio sales tax exemption. The policy explains that the Ohio sales tax exemption applies only to purchases made directly by the university and paid for using approved university payment methods. Purchases made with personal funds, even when related to university business, are subject to Ohio sales tax and may not be used in conjunction with the university’s exemption certificate. The policy outlines limited circumstances for reimbursement and specifies when the incurrence of sales tax is allowable or unallowable for university business related purchases. Emphasis is placed on individual accountability and compliance, including potential recovery findings when the policy is not followed. |
