  • Engage with the environment Mar 30, 2016 11:00 AM BGSU is mobilizing the community to get involved with sustainability efforts and issues during April. A full slate of Earth Month events and activities has been planned to raise awareness about and combat the effects of global climate change. Organized by the Office of Campus Sustainability, all the events are free.

  • Ray to appear on PBS’s ‘10 That Changed America’ Mar 30, 2016 11:00 AM Dr. Katerina Rüedi Ray, director of BGSU’s School of Art will speak about Chicago’s famous Marina City on a new PBS documentary, “10 That Changed America,” airing at 8 p.m. April 5 on WBGSU-TV and WGTE-TV. Ray is co-author of a book about the iconic buildings.

  • 'The Hatch' helped launch unique line Mar 28, 2016 7:00 AM While attending BGSU and earning a degree in graphic design in 2015, Elsa Vogel took part in the entrepreneurial program “The Hatch”, which was the springboard for launching her own business, “Elsa Leigh Designs” and her innovative “Pieces of Me”, a platform for creating personalized clothing and accessories.

  • Breaking Through Service Mar 28, 2016 7:00 AM Students involved in BG Alternative Breaks went on three service trips over spring break where they volunteered their time. The trips were in North Carolina and Illinois and each focused on a social justice issue: water quality, sustainability and animal welfare.

Glenn Varney and James McFillen with co-author Scott Janoch, provides organizations a proven method to accurately diagnose problems, test their hypotheses and develop successful interventions.

  • BGSU ranks seventh in Midwest, 38th in nation for animation Mar 25, 2016 9:14 AM Animation Career Review analyzed hundreds of animation schools and colleges, ranking BGSU seventh in the Midwest and 38th in the nation. The criteria used for the rankings were academic reputation, admission selectivity, depth and breadth of the program, and value as it relates to tuition and indebtedness and geographic location.

Former presidents Dr. Sidney Ribeau and Dr. Carol Cartwright joined President Mary Ellen Mazey to discuss their achievements during their time in office and what they see as the major issues confronting higher education today.

  • Reaching for the stars at NASA Mar 21, 2016 7:00 AM Alumna Maria Arredondo is an award-winning education program specialist at NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, overseeing the development of educational content based on the work that NASA’s scientists and engineers are doing at the installation, and she serves as the conduit to carry that knowledge to teachers and students throughout this part of the country.

  • Students, faculty, staff bring home ADDY awards Mar 18, 2016 4:08 PM BGSU students, art faculty and the Office of Marketing and Communications all won awards at the 2016 ADDY Awards sponsored by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) of Toledo. Amy Fidler’s three-dimensional design class’s “Do Amazing Things” mural earned them top advertising awards at the local and district levels.

  • BGSU participates in Severe Weather Awareness Week Mar 18, 2016 7:00 AM March 20-26 is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Ohio. The week includes a statewide tornado drill on Wednesday, March 23 at 9:50 a.m. BGSU’s Department of Pubic Safety is working to prepare the University in the event of a severe weather crisis.

  • Renowned opera expert comes to College of Musical Arts Mar 16, 2016 12:00 PM Longtime opera stage director, administrator and teacher Jay Lesenger visits the College of Musical Arts March 21 and 22 to give master classes, work with students on building their resumes and auditioning, and teach about the music business, as part of the Helen McMaster Endowed Professorship in Vocal and Choral Studies.

  • Undergraduates honored for their diversity research Mar 16, 2016 1:30 AM Four winners — three individual and one group — were presented awards for excellence March 2 for their participation in the inaugural Undergraduate Symposium on Diversity: Opportunities and Challenges for the Inclusion of Diversity in Higher Education and Society. The symposium was hosted by the Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship.

  • BGSU Philharmonia, Planetarium explore ‘The Planets’ Mar 14, 2016 3:45 PM The Bowling Green Philharmonia at BGSU will take audiences on a musical and visual voyage through Earth’s solar system March 24 with two performances of Gustav Holst’s “The Planets,” highlighted by projections provided by the BGSU Planetarium.

  • Medical Mutual contributes $1 million to BGSU's wellness initiatives Mar 14, 2016 10:50 AM Medical Mutual of Ohio is contributing $1 million to assist with the development of BGSU’s new Optimal Aging Institute (OAI). The new initiative is designed to help senior citizens live longer, healthier lives and will create new wellness programs for older adults on and off campus.

  • Women’s History Month Mar 11, 2016 1:48 PM BGSU will celebrate Women’s History Month with the theme “Tackling Injustice: Sports as an Arena of Social Change.” The Women’s Center and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, along other campus departments and organizations, have created a slate of programming that explores the role of athletics — and athletes — in positive social change.
