FALL 2025 CHORAL AUDITION INFORMATION 

MIXED CHORUSES

A CAPPELLA CHOIR, COLLEGIATE CHORALE, UNIVERSITY CHORAL SOCIETY
All university students are invited to audition for the BGSU mixed choruses. To audition for the A Cappella Choir, Collegiate Chorale, or University Choral Society, please sign up for a time here: BGSU Mixed Choir Auditions Fall 25 . Singers are asked to bring a prepared piece and will have an assessment of sight-singing and musicianship skills.  A pianist will be provided.

A CAPPELLA CHOIR – MUSP 4770E (MWF 1:30-2:20 PM)

The A Cappella Choir is a select ensemble consisting primarily of undergraduate music majors and non-music majors with previous choral experience.  This ensemble presents one concert on campus each semester and often combines with the Collegiate Chorale and University Choral Society to present a choral masterwork with orchestra in the spring semester.

COLLEGIATE CHORALE – MUSP 4780E (MW at 2:30-3:20 PM and TR at 2:30-3:45 PM)

The Collegiate Chorale is BGSU’s most select choral ensemble, consisting primarily of upperclassmen and graduate students studying music.  The Chorale generally presents at least 2 performances on campus each semester and is often also invited to perform for special events and conferneces throughout the state.  The ensemble also tours regularly.

UNIVERSITY CHORAL SOCIETY – MUSP 4760E (Tues. 7:30-9:30 PM)

The UCS is a large chorus consisting of students, faculty, staff, and community members.  Each year the UCS presents their “Joyous Sounds” holiday concert in the fall semester and performs a major choral/orchestral work with the BGSU Philharmonia or the Toledo Symphony Orchestra in the spring. 

VOLARÉ and UNIVERSITY MEN’S CHORUS

Volaré (formerly University Women’s Chorus) is a large ensemble consisting of soprano and alto singers with a variety of majors. Visit the Volaré Website to find out more about the chorus and to complete the required online audition. All sopranos and altos interested in the chorus should attend the first rehearsal with Dr. Pence Brown on Monday, August 25 at 12:30 in Room 1040 of the Moore Musical Arts Center.

UNIVERSITY MEN’S CHORUS – MUSP 4800E (MWF at 12:30 – 1:20 PM)

The University Men’s Chorus is a large ensemble consisting of tenor and bass singers with a variety of majors. Those interested in the chorus should attend the first rehearsal with Dr. Schnipke on Monday, August 25 in the Conrad Room (102) of the Wolfe Center. Students also auditioning for the A Cappella Choir, Collegiate Chorale, or University Choral Society do not need do schedule a separate audition for the University Men’s Chorus.
