Prof. Plank releases "Where We Started" on Hidden Cinema Records

On April 24, 2026, Prof. Aidan Plank (Assistant Teaching Professor- Jazz/Double Bass) will release his album "Where We Started" on Hidden Cinema Records. Two singles from the recording will be released prior to the full album release. The title track will be released on February 27, 2026 and the track "Inside Your Dream" will be released March 20, 2026.

The recording features 7 original compositions and an arrangement of Holst's "In the Bleak Midwinter". The pieces are written for big band, for chamber jazz instrumentation, for solo piano, and for solo electric bass. The works represent the broad influences that Plank draws from. In particular the music is influenced by Weather Report, Duke Ellington, Arvo Pärt, Claus Ogerman, Hermeto Pascoal, and Steve Tibbets. Plank describes the whole album as a dream-like narrative that unfolds in a seemingly disjointed but intuitively connected way. 

The album features saxophonists Brad Wagner, Howie Smith, and Chris Coles, trumpeters Jack Schantz and Garrett Golfer, pianist Charlotte Beers Plank, and vocalist Chelsea Selvaggio. Prof. Ariel Kasler is also featured prominently on the guitar.
