For nearly a century, the Bowling Green State University School of Art has provided a collaborative environment to nurture creative studies in art and design. Students are encouraged to find and grow their artistic voice through innovative work in one of the five divisions – Art Education, Art History, Digital Arts, Graphic Design, and Studio Arts.
Small class sizes, state of the art facilities, and internationally recognized artists in key faculty positions give BGSU School of Art students the exclusive experience of a private art academy with the affordability and opportunity only a state university can offer.
Whether you’re hoping to network through clubs and exhibitions, learn from one of our many visiting artists, study abroad, or gain valuable hands-on experience through internships, our robust programming can offer what you need in and beyond the classroom. And because BGSU is accredited through the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (since 1984), students can expect rigorous coursework that pushes them to develop highly refined technical and conceptual skills.
We encourage any artist interested in seeking a degree as a BFA, BA, MA, or MFA in the visual arts to schedule a visit to the BGSU Fine Arts Center to learn more.
The BGSU School of Art is the largest undergrad art program at a public university in Ohio

student testimonials
what they say
The BGSU School of Art has positively influenced and inspired who I am both artistically and personally. After becoming an art student and getting to work with some the art faculty, I can gladly say that the BGSU art faculty are some of the nicest and friendliest people I have ever met, and I look forward to working with more of the art faculty in the future. - Dashar El Amin '25, BFA Digital Arts
BGSU helped me build up a support system of creatives that I plan to keep for life. I wouldn’t be living my dream today without that level of care within my education. - Cariana Carrillo '25, BFA Studio Art
BGSU was an amazing community that nurtured my passion for design and gave me the tools to grow both creatively and professionally. Through hands-on projects and collaborative experiences, I developed a strong skill set and a sharp eye for detail, foundations that continue to guide my work today. I am so grateful for everything BGSU has given me. - Daisy Schwind '25, BFA Graphic Design
