Mary Kay Inkrott Hiser, M.Ed, ‘05, ‘06

Mary Kay has worked with the Thompson Working Families Scholarship Program since August 2016 and oversees all aspects of Thompson Scholarship Programs, which is the Student Services & Programming/Retention piece of the scholarship program. Mary Kay is a two-time BGSU graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Education - Sport Management and a Master of Education - Sport Administration. Mary Kay has worked in higher education for almost 20 years. Previously, she worked in athletics and academic advising. She enjoys getting to know her students and helping them reach their goals.  

Payne-Kristin

Kristin Payne, M.A. ‘03, ‘08

Kristin started with Thompson Scholarship Programs in June 2018. She is a two-time BGSU graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies (2003) and a Master of Arts in College Student Personnel (2008). Kristin has 17 years of higher education experience including admissions, recruitment,  advising, and teaching.

DeVona Smith, M.Ed '02

DeVona was honored to join Thompson Scholarship Programs in fall 2022. DeVona has worked in mental health, domestic violence and trauma prevention and in crisis intervention. She is also a community trainor and educator, and DeVona counts all of these experiences as career highlights. She continued on to provide coaching in higher education and the community and specializes in assisting people in identifying and achieving their goals. Her faith, love, personal trauma and education are just a few of the things that have shaped her into the person she is today. As one of our scholarship advisors, she wants to be a part of your team, so don’t hesitate to reach out for support.

Claire Hoover, M.A. ’10, ‘13

Claire joined Thompson Scholarship Programs in August 2024. Claire has worked at BGSU since 2015 in the areas of academic advising, recruitment, student support and retention. She is a 2010 and 2013 graduate of BGSU with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in College Student Personnel. Claire also holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2015) and is completing her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Psychology.

Jessica Patton-Hoffman, M.A. ’21, ‘23

Jessica joined the Thompson Scholarship Programs team full-time in May 2024, after serving as a part-time advisor for the 2022-2023 academic year.Jessica is from Bowling Green, Ohio and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication in 2021 with a minor in Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies from Bowling Green State University. She continued her academic career at Bowling Green State University and received a Master of Arts in College Student Personnel in 2023.

Ashleigh Diefenbach, M.A. ‘22, '24

Ashleigh joined the Thompson Scholarship Programs team in 2022 as a Graduate Advisor and in June 2024 as a full-time staff member. She is a two-time BGSU graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Arts in College Student Personnel. She hopes to support her students as they navigate their BGSU journey and find their version of success. In her free time, she enjoys attending concerts, spending time with her friends and family, and playing with her two cats Spoon and Soup.

Dave joined the Thompson Scholarship Programs team in August 2025 as a Scholarship Advisor. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, he is a first-generation college graduate with a Bachelor’s in Sociology and a Master’s in Education. He brings over 15 years of experience in education, mentorship, and student development, having worked with learners of all ages. Dave is passionate about helping students navigate challenges, build confidence, and achieve their goals.

Blake Thomas ‘25

Blake joined Thompson Scholarship Programs in 2025. Originally from Toledo, Ohio, he earned his Bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University and is now pursuing a Master’s degree in College Student Personnel (CSP), becoming a proud two-time Falcon. As a former Thompson Scholar himself, Blake brings a unique perspective to the program. He looks forward to connecting with and supporting current Thompson Scholars as they navigate their own college journeys.

Raegan first joined Thompson Scholarship Programs as a scholar in August 2020. Raegan graduated from BGSU in April 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Policy & Analysis with a minor in Leadership. She now serves as a Graduate Advisor and earning her Master of Arts in College Student Personnel (CSP). She hopes to empower students by fostering an atmosphere of growth, comfort and learning. Being a Thompson Scholar immensely shaped Raegan's BGSU identity throughout her undergraduate experience, and she looks forward to being a part of our students' support systems.

Marianne started working with Thompson Scholarship Programs in April 2021 but has been working at BGSU since July 2002. Previously with the Student and Academic Services office in the College of Education and Human Development. She has enjoyed being on campus and interacting with the students.
