Join the College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University for Music Discovery Day! This special event gives prospective students and families the opportunity to experience life as a CMA student, explore our programs, connect with faculty and current students, and discover what makes BGSU a great place to pursue your passion for music.

This event offers a full, robust day with opportunities to:

• Connect with faculty and current students
• Prepare for your next steps towards admission, scholarships and auditions
• Learn about our curriculum and your time in the classroom
• Explore a variety of spaces where you'll spend time as a BGSU student
• Enjoy faculty performances

Music Discovery Day 2026 Schedule

8:30 a.m. — Check-In & Welcome
Bowling Green Student Union (BTSU) Ballroom

Start your day by checking in and exploring opportunities across the College of Musical Arts.

• Check-in begins and the exhibitor area opens 
• Complimentary coffee, water, tea, and breakfast available throughout the morning 
• Meet representatives from CMA student organizations and learn about opportunities to get involved 
• Enjoy live music from a small ensemble as you arrive

9:15 a.m. — College of Musical Arts Welcome
BTSU Ballroom
Welcome to Music Discovery Day! Hear from CMA Dean Mathis and learn more about the College of Musical Arts community.

9:30 a.m. — Interactive Rhythm Session
Participate in a fun, hands-on musical experience with fellow future music students.

9:45 a.m. — Rotating Breakout Sessions
Students will rotate through three sessions designed to help prepare them for their future as music majors. All students will have the opportunity to attend each session.

Session Topics:

• Scholarships: Tips & Information
  Learn more about scholarship opportunities and helpful tips for navigating the scholarship process. 
• Preparing to Be a Music Major
  Discover what to expect as a music student and how to prepare for success in college. 
• Audition Preparation
  Learn more about the audition process and how to feel confident and prepared.

11:30 a.m. — Departmental Sessions
Explore your area of interest and connect with faculty from the programs offered through the College of Musical Arts.

• Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry (BAMI) — BTSU 207

Lunch & Showcase Performance

12:00 p.m. — Lunch
Enjoy lunch with CMA faculty, students, and other prospective students.

Families will have the opportunity to connect with faculty and students from specific areas of interest. Look for signs identifying different instruments, ensembles, and programs.

12:45 p.m. — Transition to Moore Musical Arts Center
Guests will begin making their way to the College of Musical Arts’ home in the Moore Musical Arts Center.

1:10 p.m. — CMA Showcase Concert
Kobacker Hall, Moore Musical Arts Center
Experience the talent and creativity of current CMA students during a special showcase performance.

1:55 p.m. — Closing Remarks
We’ll wrap up the main portion of Music Discovery Day before transitioning to studio sessions and optional afternoon activities.

Meet with faculty members, explore your area of study, and experience what it’s like to be a CMA student.
