University Choral Society
Welcome to the University Choral Society page!
The University Choral Society (UCS) is a large, auditioned chorus consisting of students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. Each year, the UCS presents its “Joyous Sounds” holiday concert in the fall semester and performs a major choral/orchestral work with the BGSU Philharmonia or the Toledo Symphony Orchestra in the spring. Students and others wishing to receive academic credit should register for the course, MUSP 4760E. Community members, faculty and staff not needing academic credit may participate by contributing a minimal membership fee.

Welcome, Todd Schreiber! New conductor of UCS!
Todd Schreiber, originally from Ohio City, OH, resides in Lambertville, MI and holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Bowling Green State University (’87) and a master’s degree from Chicago’s VanderCook College (‘96) and recently retired after 38 years as K-12 vocal music instructor and theatre director for Whiteford Schools in Ottawa Lake, MI. While at BGSU Todd studied piano with Dr. Elizabeth Cobb, voice with Dr. Barbara Lockard-Zimmerman and was a member of the A Cappella Choir and Men’s Chorus (VP ‘87) under the direction of legendary, RD Mathey. Todd was also the Executive Director of the Miss BGSU Pageant in ’86 and ’87 and directed the BGSU Summer Music Institute Musical Theatre Camp from ’99-’11. He recently celebrated his 20th year as director of Muskingum University Summer Musical Theater Camp. As a member of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association, Todd has served as District 12 Co-Manager for 25 years. His choirs, ensembles and private voice students consistently participated in MSVMA district and state level events and he often served as an accompanist for workshops, conferences and honors choirs. In 2010, 2017 and 2022, Todd directed State Honors Choirs for the Michigan Music Conference. He was extremely honored to be named the MSVMA Teacher of the Year in 2013! He is also a member of the Canterbury Singers USA with which he has sung several choral residencies at cathedrals in England. Todd spent four summers as a Live Show Employee with Cedar Point and has worked extensively throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan as an accompanist, performer, vocal coach, music director and choreographer His book, Olympic Games for the Music Classroom, was published in 2008 by Shawnee Press and in 2015 he earned The Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award from Ohio City-Liberty High School. In 2025, he was proudly honored by the Whiteford Agricultural School District with re-naming of their performance space the Todd R. Schreiber Stage.
