Bassoons in Kansas City

Dr. Susan Nelson was the guest artist and clinician on March 28th, 2026 for the Fountain City Bassoon Extravaganza event in Kansas City, Kansas.  Run in conjunction with the Kansas City Bassoon Academy by BGSU alumnus Mariah Stadel (MM '23), the day-long event included bassoon ensemble, young student soloists, and a class/workshop. Dr. Nelson was featured as a soloist with the ensemble, performed a duet with Mariah, and taught a class to the group on air support, intonation, and tone to nearly 40 bassoonists in attendance.
