BGSU Presence at the 2025 International Double Reed Society Conference
The 2025 International Double Reed Conference (IDRS) was held at Butler University in Indianapolis June 10-14. All activities at the conference are approved by an IDRS panel through an application process or offered by special invitation, and BGSU exhibited a large presence at the conference this year with participation from faculty, current students, and alumni.
Susan Nelson, bassoon professor
- Part of composer Jenni Brandon’s Presentation: “Creativity in Collaboration: Performers and Composers creating Music Together” along with other professional musicians
- Performed part of newly arranged "Tide Pools" for 2 bassoons with Christin Webb, freelance chamber and orchestral bassoonist from L.A.
- Solo Performance of Roger Zare’s new work: "Seas of the Moon"
Dwight Parry, oboe professor
- Concerto Performance of "Les Belles Heures" by Guillaume Connesson on an evening Gala Concert
- Taught a masterclass "The Dynamic Soloist"
- Adjudicated the Fernand Gillet- Hugo Fox International Oboe competition
