Licensing Guidelines
Our licensing program exists to:
- Protect the integrity and reputation of the Universities brand
- Ensure brand consistency across all merchandise and promotional materials
- Maintain compliance with trademark and copyright laws
- Support officially licensed products and approved vendors
- Promote quality, safety and ethical manufacturing standards
What is considered a University mark?
University marks include, but are not limited to:
- Official University logos
- Athletics logos and mascot marks
- Wordmarks and institutional names
- “BGSU,” “Bowling Green” and “Bowling Green State University”
- Falcon-related graphics and athletics logos, verbiage and other identifiers
- Spirit marks, vintage marks and secondary logos
Use of any University mark on merchandise, promotional items, apparel, digital graphics, signage or printed materials may require licensing approval.

Avoid the following:
DO NOT skew, stretch, or bend the logo in any way.
DO NOT apply treatment to the logo.
DO NOT outline the logo.
DO NOT use extreme drop shadows or two-toned applications.
DO NOT crop the logo
DO NOT apply the logo to a background that doesn’t provide adequate contrast.
Trademarks
Bowling Green State University holds trademarks on several university identifying marks. These marks include, but are not limited to, the official University logo, the BGSU wordmark, the University seal, the University Peek-a-Boo Falcon, and athletic marks.
