Sustainable Transportation
The Goal:
"In the transportation area, BGSU’s overall goal is to reduce emissions by eventually moving towards a more sustainable fleet of vehicles that are used less, while at the same time reducing emissions from commuting, especially in single occupancy vehicles, and expanding the use of sustainable mass transportation."
-BGSU's Climate Action Plan, 2015

Six Electric Vehicle Charging Stations are up and running around the University. These locations are in addition to the three charging stations in downtown Bowling Green.
Two Green Roof Bike Racks were installed on campus through a grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. They feature live roof panels which help absorb stormwater, creates habitats, and offsets the urban heat island affect.
Six new shuttles now operate on propane, a form of natural gas. Conversion costs were funded by the Student Green Initiatives Fund. Propane reduces the bus' carbon footprints by 24% compared to diesel, furthering BGSU’s Climate Action Plan. Propane fuel is more economical, saving money for both BGSU and its students!
Mass transit options are available to get you from A to B around BGSU and the surrounding area. Check out BGSU Shuttle Services page to learn more, and follow the instructions to download the TripShot app today.
Continuing with the Office of Sustainability’s transportation initiative, BGSU University Libraries has provided two Dero bike FixIt stations courtesy of the Friends of the University Libraries. These stations are free to the campus community. Use the QR code on the station to access bike repair instructions.
