The BGSU Bike Rental Program is designed to make emissions-free transportation accessible and affordable to students, faculty, and staff to reduce the overall carbon footprint generated by commuting.

Bike Donation & Repair Stand Map:
Do you have a bike that you know you can't take off-campus at the end of the semester? Maybe it's broken and you never had time to fix it? Don't abandon it, donate it instead! The BGSU Bike Rental Program can use your bike to offer to other students, or for parts to fix our fleet. We will accept all bike donations at the BGSU Bike Rental Garage. If you can't come by during garage hours, just leave it outside the door! Located here at 507 E Reed St.
Continuing with the Office of Sustainability’s transportation initiative, BGSU University Libraries has provided two Dero bike FixIt stations courtesy of the Friends of the University Libraries. These stations are free to the campus community. Use the QR code on the station to access bike repair instructions.
Fall Rental Period
First day of classes through the last day of classes for fall semester. The Fall 2026 rental period will be from August 24 to December 4.
Spring Rental Period
First day of classes through the last day of classes for spring semester.
Academic Year Rental
First day of classes for fall semester through the last day of classes for spring semester. Can also apply for 2 consecutive semesters such as summer to fall, or spring to summer.
Per Semester
$49 (Fall, Spring, Summer individually)
Academic Year
$79 (Two Consecutive Semesters)
Late Bike Fee
$20 first day; $30 for each additional day not returned to BGSU Bike office/garage on due date by 5 p.m.
Lost or Stolen Bike Fee
Full replacement cost of bike ($200)
Damage Fee due to Misuse of Bike
Cost of parts and labor
A U-Lock is a REQUIREMENT to recieve a rental bike. This style of lock is one of few that balances effectiveness and ease of use. U-Locks can be purchased locally at CycleWerks, Walmart, or on Amazon if needed. See the picture beside/below for an example of a U-Lock. Please talk with us if you have any questions on this requirement.

Of Course! This bike is your personal bike for the rental period & is intended to be used as your primary form of transportation around BG for greatest environmental benefits!
A bike rental program provides the greatest environmental benefits by providing a low-cost, reliable transportation option for students to travel around Bowling Green. This will reduce the amount of cars on the road, as well as the amount of pollution emitted into our atmosphere.
Regular maintenance & tune ups are included in the rental cost! Simply stop by the BGSU Bike Garage during the weekly drop-in hours or make a personalized appointment by emailing greenbg@bgsu.edu, or calling/texting our Student Coordinator Nic, at 419-438-5594
If your rental bike is stolen, there is a $200 fee to cover replacing the bike in our fleet!
These bikes are donated by the BGSU Police Department after being declared lost/ abandoned. Only the highest-quality bikes are added to our fleet & are then returned to pristine condition by our BGSU Bike Mechanic before being rented.
We rent to students, staff, and faculty here at Bowling Green State University!
We tag bikes that we may suspect are abandoned. If your personal conveyance vehicles was tagged and taken, you should fill our the return form here: Personal Conveyance Impound.
If your bike/scooter never had a tag and is suspected stolen, please also notify BGSU Campus Police at (419) 372-2346 and report missing.
