Profile:
Throughout her years in higher education, Dr. Owens has established a professional history of fostering an environment that encourages communication and collaboration from all members of the college community while being focused on student completion and success. In her current position as instructor and program coordinator, Dr. Owens serves as the program coordinator of the Master of Arts in Media and Communication degree with a specialization in Strategic Communication to serve nontraditional students. She is an instructor, advises undergraduate students and graduate students. She is responsible for serving a diverse population, evaluating the new program and assessing student learning outcomes. She serves on the Arts & Sciences Diversity Committee.
In her prior position as Executive Director of Marketing & Public Relations at Washington State Community College, she also served as an AQIP category chair responsible for evaluating new programs and assessing student learning outcomes. Dr. Owens considers herself a cheerleader for student success. Responsible for serving a diverse population to increase current student retention, transfer, and graduation rates. She is creative and organized communicator who builds productive relationships with staff, peers, and campus divisions and community partnerships.
