The Oakland University Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble was created in 2002. In addition to performing as a large ensemble, the group divides into tuba-euphonium quartets which have competed in the Music Teachers National Association’s Chamber Music Competition, the North American Brass Band Association’s Brass Ensemble Competition, as well as the university’s annual Chamber Music Competition. The OU Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble has premiered works written for them by composers such as Matthew Murchison and OU alumnus, Ian Lester. The school offers a wide variety of brass ensembles as well as the opportunity to perform with the internationally acclaimed Oakland University Brass Band. The ensemble is co-directed by Kenneth Kroesche and Brandon Thibault.
