The University is responsible for the management and safeguarding of assets to ensure they are used appropriately, consistently and in a manner that supports Bowling Green State University’s mission and reputation.

Licensing procedures
The University’s licensing procedures outlines all requirements and procedures surrounding the use of Bowling Green State University’s trademarks, logos and other protected branding elements. The policy applies to all campus departments, student organizations, vendors, external organizations, retailers and corporate partners, and individuals seeking to use University branding elements.
Internal Purchasing and Royalty Structure of Branded Goods
Bowling Green State University recognizes that certain uses of University trademarks and athletics marks may qualify for reduced royalties or 0 percent royalty rate based on the nature of the product(s), intended use of the product(s), intended audience and purpose of the product(s).
Royalty determinations are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are not automatically granted. Approval must be obtained from the University Licensing Brand Manager and prior to production or sale.
Important information
A royalty exemption does not eliminate the requirement to obtain licensing approval or artwork approval. All products, merchandise and content featuring University marks and branding elements must comply within University Licensing requirements, policy, brand standards and applicable NCAA regulations.
Bowling Green State University reserves the right to approve, deny, modify or revoke royalty exemptions based on the circumstances of a request or existing exemption.
Athletics compliance
Certain uses of University marks including athletics specific marks, student-athlete NIL activities, sponsorships and promotional efforts may also be subject to NCAA, conference and institutional regulations. Users of all branding elements are responsible for ensuring compliance and following proper procedures.
Trademark and intellectual property protection
Bowling Green State University actively protects its trademarks and intellectual property. Unauthorized usage of University marks and branding elements may result in requests to discontinue use, removal or products or materials, result in denial of future licensing opportunities, or other actions deemed necessary by the University.
